Majeed holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) from the University of New South Wales, Australia. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and New Zealand.
Majeed brings over 28 years of experience in the field of finance, both locally and internationally. He started his career with KPMG, Melbourne in 1994. After 3 years, he joined PETRONAS and held several positions within the PETRONAS Group of Companies. His last role at PETRONAS was as the Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”), PETRONAS Lubricants International from December 2010 until April 2015.
In May 2015, he joined QSR Brands (M) Holdings Sdn. Bhd., as the Group CFO, a position he held until April 2018. Prior to joining UJ, he was a Director of Finance and Corporate Strategy at Icon Offshore Berhad, and was subsequently appointed as the Director of Operation (Vessel) in December 2021.
Majeed currently sits on the Board of Directors of UJ’s wholly owned subsidiaries, UJ Hotels & Resorts Management Services Sdn Bhd and UJ Estates (Holdings) Sdn Bhd.
Chief Investment Officer
Fairuz holds a Bachelor of Business (Financial Planning) from RMIT University, Australia and brings over 16 years of working experience which he acquired since 2006.
Prior to joining UJ, Fairuz was with AIIMAN Asset Management and AHAM Asset management for 10 years, managing funds for government linked entities and pension funds.
Fairuz started his career as a management trainee with HSBC, before joining Khazanah Nasional Berhad in 2008.
Head of Property Management
Khalid graduated from University of Technology Malaysia and holds a Bachelor of Science in Property Management. He is also a registered Property Manager with the Board of Valuers, Appraisers, Estate Agents and Property Managers (BOVIA) and is a Graduate Member of Institution of Surveyor, Malaysia (ISM).
Khalid is currently the Head of Property Management of Urusharta Jamaah. He is also a member of the Management Executive Committee.
Khalid has more than 28 years of experience in real estate industry mainly in the areas of Asset Management, Facilities Management, Valuation and Consultancy. He had also spent seven years working in the private sector.
Prior to joining UJ, Khalid was the internal advisor to Pengurusan Danaharta Nasional Berhad then subsequently, with Prokhas Sdn Bhd. Khalid had been the Project Manager for several projects including the sales administration, tenancy and facilities management of PPR projects under Jabatan Perumahan Negara, Kementerian Kesejahteraan Bandar, Perumahan & Kerajaan Tempatan (KPKT) and the proposed establishment of Perbadanan Pengurusan Perumahan Awam Negara Act.
Head of Finance
Laili holds a Bachelor of Accountancy from Universiti Teknologi MARA. She is also a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).
Laili currently heads the Finance Department. She is part of UJ’s pioneer team where she is responsible for the finance and treasury functions of UJ. She is also a member of the Management Executive Committee.
Prior to joining UJ, Laili served as a Senior Finance Officer with Utusan Melayu Malaysia Berhad for more than 25 years. She has vast experience in finance and accounting related functions. She is responsible for maintaining the internal and functional controls on all finance processes of the firm. She also serves on the audit and risk committee of UJ’s subsidiaries.
Laili is currently a member of the Board of Directors of UJ Hotels & Resorts Management Services Sdn Bhd.
Head of Corporate Finance
Asyraff earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy from University Teknologi MARA. He is a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA).
Currently serving as the Head of Corporate Finance at Urusharta Jamaah, Asyraff is also member of the Management Executive Committee. With over a decade of combined experience in finance, business advisory, and external audit, Asyraff brings a wealth of expertise to the table.
Prior to his role at UJ, Asyraff served as an Accountant at Deleum Berhad, an oil and gas service provider. In this capacity, he managed financial matters for the oilfield segment, collaborating closely with all business units to enhance profitability and streamline cost management.
Asyraff embarked on his career in 2013 with Deloitte, a Big Four audit firm. During his tenure, he worked with the financial audit team, conducting audits for numerous public listed and multinational companies.
Head of Operations
Azrul graduated from Universiti Teknologi MARA with a Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) Islamic Banking and Diploma in Investment Analysis.
Azrul is currently the Head of Operations of Urusharta Jamaah. He is part of UJ’s pioneer team responsible for the operations of asset under management worth over RM10 billion. He is also a member of Management Executive Committee.
He has vast experience in the financial industry specialising in investment operations, treasury, portfolio valuation, performance measurement, data analysis and reporting. Prior to joining UJ, he was the Head of Client Experience and Investment Operations Manager of Hong Leong Asset Management. Previously, he worked with the Royal Bank of Canada Investor & Treasury Services as the Fund Accounting Manager serving for Dublin region.
Azrul currently sits on the Board of Directors of Datasonic Group Berhad as a Non-Independent Non-Executive Director.
Head of Strategic Management
Syahmi holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration (Business Economics) from Universiti Teknologi MARA and completed his Master in Business Administration (Sustainable Business) from the International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF) University.
Syahmi is currently the Head of Strategic Management at Urusharta Jamaah. He leads UJ’s strategy & monitoring as well as corporate affairs and is a member of the Management Executive Committee.
He began his career as an associate in a start-up company based in the United Kingdom, where he was responsible for market insights and operations. From thereon, he went to become one of the pioneering members of the East Coast Rail Link Project (ECRL) where he had stints in the Corporate Services and Special Projects. Prior to joining UJ, he was a Special Assistant to the Group Executive Director of a local Rolling Stock company.
Acting Head of Governance, Risk & Compliance
Faris holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons.) Transport and a Diploma in Business Studies (Transport) from Universiti Teknologi MARA.
He is a certified Sustainability Risk Manager from the Institute of Enterprise Risk Practitioners (IERP) and is currently pursuing the Certified Integrity Officer certification program with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Academy.
Faris is currently serving as the Acting Head of Governance, Risk, and Compliance Department of UJ. He is responsible in overseeing Risk Management processes, Governance, Compliance, and Integrity functions of UJ.
He brings over seven years of robust experience as a risk practitioner with expertise in Enterprise Risk Management, Financial Risk Management, Operational Risk Management, and Business Continuity Management.
Faris also has a diverse professional background as he was trained and managed various functions throughout his career which include integrity, compliance, secretarial, and paralegal functions.
He spent over six years in the oil and gas industry, with experience in both upstream and downstream sectors.
Prior to joining the company, Faris served at PRefChem (a JV company between PETRONAS and Saudi Aramco) where he was responsible to oversee risk review and risk assessment in decision-making process. He began his career with Velesto Energy Berhad.

Dato’ Shukri was appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Urusharta Jamaah on 6 August 2020.
Dato’ Shukri served as an Executive Director of CIMB Group Holdings Berhad from 2006 to 2011 and was previously the Chief Operating Officer of Bumiputera Commerce Holdings Berhad. He had also been the Chief Executive Officer of Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad from 1999 to 2003.
Dato’ Dr. Amiruddin Muhamed was appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of Urusharta Jamaah on 20 March 2023. He was also appointed as the Chairman of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee.
Dato’ Dr. Amiruddin is currently the Secretary (Strategic and General) of the Government Investment Companies (GIC) Division of the Ministry of Finance (MOF). He began his career at MOF as the Assistant Director at the Accountant General Department and rose through the ranks when he moved to the GIC Division and became the Senior Principal Assistant Secretary. Later, he moved to the Strategic Investment Division.
Currently, Dato’ Dr. Amiruddin serves on the boards of Malaysia Development Holdings Sdn Bhd, Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn. Bhd, Malaysia Programme Office For Power Electricity Reform Corporation, Sinergi Perdana Sdn Bhd, Suria Strategic Energy Resources Sdn Bhd, SRC International Sdn Bhd, and Railway Assets Corporation. Previously, Dato’ Dr. Amiruddin had served on the board of Export-Import Bank of Malaysia Berhad.
Datuk Adinan was appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of Urusharta Jamaah on 1 September 2019.
He started his career in Bank Bumiputera Malaysia Berhad (BBMB) in the early 80’s. He served BBMB for 18 years and subsequently served other companies involved in property development, construction, manufacturing, recovery and asset management. He was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) from 2007 till 2017. Prior to that, he was the General Manager, Operations I at Prokhas Sdn Bhd.
While serving BSN, he was appointed as Chairman of BSNC Corporation Berhad. He was also a board member of BSN, Prudential BSN Takaful Berhad, Permodalan BSN Berhad and Gibraltar BSN Life Berhad. He was also the President of World Savings Bank Institute (Asia Pacific) in addition to serving as Treasurer of Persatuan Badan Berkanun Malaysia and a council member of Association of Development Financial Institution of Malaysia (ADFIM).
Datuk Adinan currently holds directorship in Aeon Credit Service (M) Berhad, where he also chairs its Board Risk Committee.
Dato’ Othman Semail was appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of Urusharta Jamaah on 7 May 2021.
He started his career in 1982 with Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority (RISDA) as Assistant Agricultural Officer. After serving RISDA for 16 years, he then moved to Ministry of Primary Industries, Malaysia as Assistant Secretary from 1998 until 2003. He then served as Assistant Director at the Public Service Department, Prime Minister’s Department for 2 years from 2003 until 2005.
Dato’ Othman began his service with the Ministry of Finance, Malaysia in 2005 as Assistant Secretary with the Government Procurement Division. He rose through the ranks in the division with various capacities including Principal Assistant Secretary, Head of Section, Deputy Secretary (Operation) and Under Secretary (Head of Government Procurement Division). In October 2018, he was appointed as the Deputy Secretary General of Treasury (Management) until his retirement in March 2021.
During his service with Ministry of Finance, he was also appointed as Chairman of Technology Depository Agency Bhd (TDA) and Chairman of SRC International Sdn Bhd. He was also a Board Member of Tabung Haji Properties Sdn Bhd (THP), Bank Pembanguan Malaysia Berhad (BPMB), Global Link (M) Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of MARA, Amanah Raya Development Sdn Bhd and Amanah Raya Real Estate Investment and a Board of Trustees, Capital Market Development Fund. His appointment was also included being a Committee Member of Disciplinary Board, Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) and Committee Member of Service Export Fund on Pre-Feasibility Study Grant, Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE). Dato’ Othman was also a Member of Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM), Member of Certification Advisory Committee, IKRAM QA Services Sdn. Bhd., Member of Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia (CIDB), Member of Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur and Honorary Secretary, Ministry of Finance Malaysian Government Servants’ Welfare and Sports Council (MKSAKK).
Currently, Dato’ Othman sits on the board of JAKS Resources Berhad, UJ Hotels & Resorts Management Services Sdn Bhd and UJ Estates (Holdings) Sdn Bhd.
Dato’ Jauhari was appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of Urusharta Jamaah on 7 July 2021.
Dato’ Jauhari was the Chairman of Battersea Power Station Development Company (BPSDC) from 2015 to 2018. Prior to that, he had a long-standing role within Sime Darby Berhad having held various positions in multiple departments. He had been the Managing Director of Sime Darby Property Berhad from 2016 to 2017 and was also the Managing Director of Oil & Gas Power Division from 2010 to 2015.
Dato’ Jauhari currently sits on the Board of Directors for Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad and Boustead Properties Berhad.
Dato’ Andri served in the Judicial and Legal Service as Federal Counsel from 1990 until June 1994. He is currently the managing partner of the firm Kadir, Andri & Partners and heads the Banking and Finance team. Dato’ Andri was a member of the Law Revision Committee on Islamic Banking and Finance of Central Bank of Malaysia including the sub- committee on Review of Contracts Act and the sub-committees of the Islamic capital market working group of the Securities Commission. Both committees relate to reviewing aspects of laws and regulations to facilitate and advance Islamic banking and finance laws.
Dato’ Andri also has extensive knowledge and had advised on those relating to energy including independent power producers proposals as well as renewable energy such as solar and small hydro projects.
He was a member of the Board of Studies for the post graduate degree of Master of Science in Islamic Banking and Finance as well as was a member of the Board of Studies for the post graduate degree of Master of Science in Islamic Capital market at International Islamic University Malaysia. He is a registered adjudicator and registered on the Islamic banking and finance of arbitrators at the Asian International Arbitration Centre.
Dr. Zaharuddin was appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of Urusharta Jamaah on 27 August 2019.
Adjunct Professor Dr. Zaharuddin Abd Rahman is a far-reaching Shariah and business expert who has contributed to the world of Shariah-compliance and halal-related industries spanning over 22 years encompasses unswerving contribution in multiple domains in the local arena – counting banking and Takaful institutions, corporate companies, higher education (universities & colleges), the F&B segment, the cosmetics industry, educational technologies, telecommunications, the Malaysian Government & GLCs plus Malaysian regulators (BNM & the Securities Commission of Malaysia).
His fame in Shariah-conformity and halal-centric proficiency has enabled him to actively impart his quintessential knowhow upon the International stage, touching nations like Singapore, Brunei, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Trinidad and Tobago, the United Kingdom and the USA.
At present, he is the Founding Managing Director of Elzar Group of Companies, Elzar Shariah Solutions Sdn. Bhd, Myclass Technologies Sdn. Bhd, Aalim Aulad Islamic Preschool, Zaz Software Sdn Bhd, Urban Mobilitiy Asia, dan sebuah Syarikat solar PV, Suria and Sonne Sdn. Bhd. He has also served as Shariah Advsior at Securities Commission of Malaysia, EPF Islamic, MARA, PUNB, Zurich Takaful and Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Business and Accountancy of University of Selangor (UNISEL), Faculty Muamalah & Islamic Finance at the Universiti Islam Sultan Sirajuddin (UNISIRAJ), just as he did formerly at the University of Sultan Zainal Abidin (UNISZA).
Dr. Zaharuddin has served as the Senior Lecturer at the Kuliyyah of Economics and Management Sciences of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) for 10 years. Prior to that, he served Ingress Corporation Berhad and RHB Islamic Bank Berhad, Malaysia as a Senior Manager Shariah & Product Development, and later, joined Asian Finance Bank Berhad as Head (Vice President) of Shariah Compliance. He also served as a board member of Yayasan Pembangunan Ekonomi Islam Malaysia (YaPEIM), UNISZA.
Currently, Dr. Zaharuddin plays various roles as a board member of Moovby and also Business Advisor Aisprop Holdings Berhad and The Noor Apps.
Encik Didi is a member of UJ’s Investment Panel since 2020 and was appointed as Chairman on 28 May 2021.
Encik Didi started his banking career with Morgan Grenfell & Co. in London after qualifying as a Chartered Accountant. He also worked for J.P. Morgan in Indonesia and Malaysia for more than 20 years, where his last position was as the Managing Director and Head of Investment Banking at J.P. Morgan Malaysia.
He is currently serving as an Independent Non-Executive Director of CIMB Group Holdings and is also the President Commissioner of PT Bank CIMB Niaga Tbk.
Dato’ Sheridan was appointed as a member of the Investment Panel of Urusharta Jamaah in 2020.
Dato’ Sheridan was Director of Dealing & Special Assignments at K & N Kenanga Berhad, currently known as Kenanga Investment Bank Berhad from 1996 to 2006. He then became the Deputy President/Chief Executive Officer from 2006 to 2010. He is proficient in Financial Services and Wealth Management. His areas of expertise include Risk Management, Fund Raising and Corporate Strategic Planning.
Puan Azian was appointed as a member of the Investment Panel of Urusharta Jamaah on 14 June 2021.
Previously, Puan Azian was the Chief Investment Officer of Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Berhad. Prior to that, she was the Chief Investment Officer of Maybank Investment Management Sdn Bhd from 2004 to 2007.
Puan Azian began her career as an auditor and has extensive experience in fund management and capital market. Currently, she sits on the Board of Perak Transit Berhad as an Independent Non-Executive Director, where she is also a member of the Audit, Nomination & Remuneration Committee. Further, Puan Azian is also a member of the Board of Directors of MRT Corporation Berhad, where she also chairs its Risk & Audit Committee.
